On a cold winter's afternoon in Victoria's North East, a weathered stone shelter - its ageing shingles laden with snow, blends peacefully into an alpine wonderland. At 1490 metres above sea level the view across the Ovens Valley is usually breathtaking, but not today. Shrouded in fog, the famous granite walls of the Mount Buffalo Gorge disappear into a misty ether creating a drama of its own.
