Promise of a New Day, Richmond, TAS
Richmond Bridge, Richmond, Tasmania, Australia
Richmond Bridge is a beautiful relic from Tasmania's dark days as the Van Diemen's Land penal colony. Built between 1823 and 1825 by convict labour, its graceful sandstone arches span the Coal River, carrying traffic today, just as it did when first opened almost 200 years ago. Recognised for its significant heritage value, Richmond Bridge has become a major attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year to the small township of Richmond.
