At 1400 metres above sea level, Eurobin Creek's spectacular and at times tumultuous journey begins on the Long Plain, amidst snow gum woodlands and striking granite outcrops. Dammed in 1910, its crystal clear inflows pool on the plateau, feeding into picturesque Lake Catani and flooding the Long Plain in the east. A mere trickle over summer, this delightful mountain stream revives as intense autumnal cold fronts deliver heavy rain and snow to Victoria’s North East. Finally free, Eurobin Creek spills from a burgeoning Lake Catani, tumbling 700 metres into the Haunted Gorge and over the weathered cascades of ancient waterfalls. Joined by Crystal Brook after its turbulent descent, Eurobin Creek finds peace here on the lower slopes of Mount Buffalo, meandering amongst the delicate tree ferns and mountain ash.
